Approved Minutes - Lake Improvement Board of Bear Lake
February 19 th , 2009
The meeting of the Lake Improvement Board for Bear Lake was held at the Bear Lake Township Hall, on the 19 th day of February, 2009. The meeting was called to order by Jack Sawka, Chairperson, (via conference call) at 8:30 P.M.
Present were Carver Edwards, Robert Yates, Don Brisbin, Ken Hilliard, and Mark DiBenedetto. Also Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones and six other guests.
Approval of Minutes:
It was moved and supported to approve the minutes of the October 16 th , 2008 Lake Improvement Board meeting.
Public Comment:
Bob Babcock from Pleasanton Township Board asked to have the meeting notice posted at the Pleasanton Township Hall.
Presentation of Lake Improvement Board Bill:
Bob Yates presented bills from Hubbard et al Law Firm for $88.07 and Lakeshore Environmental for $3250.00.
It was moved by Don Brisbin, supported by Carver Edwards to pay the above bills in full.
The motion was unanimously carried.
Old Business:
2009 Lake Treatment:
Jennifer went over the bid spec sheets and revisions that had been made to 2008 bids requests.
Bob Yates made a motion to have Professional Lake Management treat Bear Lake in 2009. The motion was seconded by Ken Hilliard and was unanimously approved.
Clean Boats- Clean Lakes
John Walthers letter was read and discussed. It was decided to address this issue again at the April meeting.
Jennifer shared that Paradise Lake has potentially 800 acres of thick EWM and only 341 riparian and no current SAD. They are working on a possible Lake Improvement Board.
New Business:
There was discussion of the Annual Report, 2009 Budget, and meetings with all the municipalities.
Also discussed were various sites to get information regarding the treatment of the lake and Lake Board meetings, such as the website and the library.
Banking Arrangements:
Manistee County Treasurer, Mr. Pomroy said he would be happy to help us with the banking.
Fiscal Agent Agreement from the municipalities was discussed.
A motion was made to have Mr. Pomroy, Manistee County Treasurer handle banking arrangements was made by Ken Hilliard, seconded by Mark DiBenedetto. The motion was unanimously carried.
The next Lake Improvement Board Meeting will be Thursday, April 16 th , 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bear Lake Township Hall.
There being no additional business, it was moved and unanimously supported for the Lake Improvement Board to adjourn. The meeting was adjourned at 9:36 p.m.
