Approved Minutes
Lake Improvement Board of Bear Lake
May 21 , 2009

The meeting of the Lake Improvement Board for Bear Lake was held at the Bear Lake Twp. Hall, on May 21 st , 2009. The meeting was called to order by Robert Yates, Treasurer, at 7:00 p.m.

Present: Carver Edwards, Don Brisbin, Bob Yates, Mark DiBenedetto, Bryan Harris, and arriving late, Ken Hilliard.

Guest: Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones from Lakeshore Environmental, Inc.

Approval of Minutes:

It was moved and unanimously supported that minutes from April 19 th , 2009 be accepted as read.

Nominations:

Because of the removal of Jack Sawka from the Lake Improvement Board by Pleasanton Twp. as the Pleasanton Twp. representative, nominations were taken and voted on. The new Chairperson is Don Brisbin, Treasurer, Carver Edwards, and Secretary, Robert Yates. The Board welcomed Bryan Harris as the new Pleasanton Twp. representative.

Treasurers Report:

All bills are paid and up to date according to Mr. Pomroy, Manistee County Treasurer and Bob Yates.

Following the report there were questions regarding the need and expense of the consulting firm of Lakeshore Environmental, Inc.

Other Business:

Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones reported that the Grid Matrix has not yet been done as the weather has not been warm enough. Because of this we do not know how much is to be treated or the cost, although we do have an accepted cost per acre for treatment.

It was also asked if Jennifer would get the company that treats the lake to put up more signs at public accesses and swim areas.

Mark DiBenedetto asked Jennifer if Lakeshore Environmental could treat the lake along with doing the consulting and engineering. Jennifer explained that yes they can treat the lake also, but have found that some lake boards feel that it is a conflict of interest so therefore they don't usually do it.

Many kudos to Jack Sawka for all the time and effort he put into helping establishing and making the Lake Improvement Board for Bear Lake such a success.

The next meeting of the LIB will be June 18 th , 2009 at 7:00 p m at the Bear Lake Twp. Hall.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 p m.

Don Brisbin, Secretary
