February 28, 2008 Meeting Minutes

Assessment Roll Hearing

The meeting was called to order by Jack Sawka at 7:00pm. ALl members were present including Michelle Brya, Attorney, Jennifer Jermalowicz-Jones, ASI Biologist, and 28 signed in guests.

Jack Sawka gave a brief history of why and how the LIB was formed.

Michelle Brya explained why we were having the meeting on Assessments.

Jack Sawka explained the how and why of the assessment roll, who is in the SAD, what is going to be assessed, also what municipalities will be assessed.

The was discussion of the letters that were sent to the Board and other questions that were raised at the Feasibility meeting on February 21, 2008.

Michelle Brya opened the meeting up for public comment from guests regarding the Assessment Roll. Eight guests voiced either support or opposition to, or had questions about how they were being assessed.

General questions were taken from three of the guests about the possibility of grants or the state paying for the treatment or the three municipalities putting in more money toward the project.

Jack Sawka asked for volunteers to spearhead the effrort to obtain more money from other sources. At thius time, there were no volunteers.

A motion to accept the low bid for chemical application in the spring was made by Don Brisbin, seconded by Bob Yates, and unanimously approved by the board. Along with motion the board asked Jennifer if they could be a part of the spreading process. Jennifer will be present during the application and any member of the board that would like to be included is invited.


The next meeting will be March 6th, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Bear Lake Township Hall.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:12pm.
