MINUTES
Village of Bear Lake
Regular Meeting: April 13, 2005
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Don Hyrns, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning, and Glen Moore.
Absent: Vern Best and Carol Urbanus
Guests: Bernard Ware, Jr.
Minutes: The March minutes were approved as presented with corrections.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to accept the Treasurer's Report as read.
Motion carried.

Bills: Motion by Don seconded by Ron to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.
Guest: Bernard Ware, Jr. requested the Village's support and commitment to a new Multi-Jurisdictional Planning Unit which would include the Village, Bear Lake Township and Pleasanton Township. They would like to seek a grant in an effort to propose a Master Comprehensive Plan involving the 3 units of government. Discussion took place but no action was taken at this time.
Bear Lake Days: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to close U.S. 31 on July 9, 2005 from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for the Bear Lake Days Parade. Motion carried.
Correspondence: Received a letter from the Manistee County Board of Commissioners requesting a position on the proposed ATV ordinance. Motion by Don seconded by Robert to send a letter supporting the amended ordinance. Motion carried.
Advertising: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to advertise in the Manistee Visitor's Guide for the price of $354.00. Motion carried.
Trees: Motion by Ron seconded by Don to have Thompson's Tree Service remove the tree on Maple Street for $700.00 and grind 11 stumps from trees removed by Consumer's Energy for the price of $1,300.00. Motion carried.
Roads: Motion by Ricke seconded by Don to regravel Hancock and Grove streets and fill in hole, if needed. Motion carried.
Signs: Motion by Robert seconded by Don to have Ron order new signs from the Manistee County Road Commission to replace those that are down. Motion carried.
Minutes: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to no longer post the minutes on the Village website. Motion carried.
Discussions Held On:
- Sending the Boy Scouts a Thank You note when they have completed their work in Hopkins Park.
- Council volunteers will replace the Styrofoam on the dock on Friday, May 15th.
- Contacting Les Johnson to have the Park road brined again this year.
- Renovation of the park showers has been completed.
- Investigate drain on Lynn street in an effort to prevent standing water after a rainfall.
- Check on lighting for "The Bear" by the lakeshore.
- Keep the 3 CD's at National City the same.
