Village of Bear Lake
June 8, 2005
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 up.me. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Vern Best, Connie Guerne, Rickey Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Don Hyrns, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning, Carol Urbanus and Glen Moore.
Guests: Larry Bacon, Carver Edwards, Jay Johnson and Tim Richard.
Minutes: The May minutes were approved as presented.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Don seconded by Carol to accept the Treasurer's Report as read.
Motion carried.

Bills: Motion by Ron seconded by Don to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.
Guests: Mr. Bacon expressed concern with noise and inquired about the current Noise Ordinance in the Village. The Clerk will research the records to see what is on record.
Correspondence: Responded to the State's request for Election Confirmation for November of even years.
Bear Lake Marine: Motion by Vern seconded by Don to increase the monthly rent $10.00 per month for the next five years, per the original agreement. Motion carried.
Motion by Vern seconded by Carol to send a friendly notice to Bear Lake Marine reminding them of their agreement not to encroach upon park property. Motion carried.
Campground: Motion by Vern seconded by Don to allow McBride Septic Systems to pump holding tanks as requested by renters in the park. Motion carried.
Motion by Vern seconded by Carol to plant a Red Maple tree at the east end of the turnaround in the park in memory of Bill Kuhn. Motion carried.
Trees: Motion by Don seconded by Ron to allow Thompson Tree & Stump Removal to cut down two Maple trees on Main street for $700.00. Motion carried.
Flags: Motion by Ron seconded by Carol to purchase 12 U.S.. Flags and 6 Michigan Flags from the office of David Palsrok. Motion carried.
Policies: Motion by Robert seconded by Ron to amend line item #10 on the Capitalization Policy from $500.00 to $1,000.00. Motion carried.
Motion by Carol seconded by Robert to adopt a policy that states the Village will elect to prospectively report its infrastructure assets. Motion carried.
Wellhead: Motion by Carol seconded by Vern to apply for a $1,000.00 Wellhead grant for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. Motion carried.
Bear Lake Days: Motion to close Main Street from Wise to Virginia Street and Wise Street from Main to Stuart on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Motion carried.
Street Fund: Motion by Don seconded by Ricke to raise the hours (corrected: raise the pay per hours) charged to the water fund and park fund from $16.50 to $25.00. Motion carried.
Discussions Held On:
- Hidden street sign should be installed within the next two weeks.
- Streets signs were ordered for Maple, Cody and Lynn.
- Hired Christa Alike Schmidt for summer help.
- School is paving fenced in area across from the school but will have to check with DEQ regarding a retention
pond.
- Received payment from Curtis Edwards for the power washer.
- Tabled decision about fixing Main Street by the church.
Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
