Budget Hearing: March 9, 2005

Budget Hearing: The Budget Hearing was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:00 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Present: Vern Best, Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Robert Howe, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning, Carol Urbanus and Glen Moore.
Absent: Don Hyrns.
Funds: The budget was presented with brief discussion on the various accounts. Changes were made to lower Transfer Out line item from $19,000.00 to $1,000.00 in the General Fund.

Regular Meeting: March 9, 2005

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Vern Best, Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning, Carol Urbanus, Gary McBride and Glen Moore.
Absent: Don Hyrns
Guests: Max Coalter, Carver Edwards and Dave Long.
Budget: Motion by Vern seconded by Ron to set the tax rate at 10 mills and approve the 2005-2006 proposed budget. Motion carried.
Minutes: The February minutes were approved as presented.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Carol seconded by Ron to accept the Treasurer's Report as read.
Motion carried.

Bills: Motion by Vern seconded by Robert to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.
Guest: Max Coalter requested that the Boy Scouts be allowed to clean up the park after the weather breaks in their effort to earn a service project badge. Max will also look into the possibility of the Scouts refinishing the deck. The Council gladly accepts their help.
Correspondence: Received a letter for any elected official to attend the Manistee County Regional Summit on April 20th. No one is expected to attend at this time.
Street Administrator: Motion by Ron seconded by Robert to appoint Ricke Guerne as the new Street Administrator to replace Jeff Harthun.
Hopkins Park: Carol will check on the cost of planting a tree and having a memorial plaque made in honor of Bill Koon, (Corrected: Kuhn) Hopkins campground host who recently passed away. She also reported will have 237 nights spoken for short-term reservations. She completed an up-dated data base and the campground has hosted over 1060 different parties in the past 7 years. A representative from Miracle Playground Co. will stop by the campground near the end of April in an effort to finish up the playground.
Discussions Held On:
- Regraveling Grove and Hancock after the winter frost.
- Check into ordering road signs that are down.
- Enclosing letters reminding various businesses and individuals to have their cross-connection water valve inspected.
