Regular Meeting: May 11, 2005
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Don Hyrns, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning, Carol Urbanus and Glen Moore.
Absent: Vern Best
Guests: Larry Bacon, Carver Edwards, Steve Hansen, Dave Long, Tim Richard and Bernard Ware, Jr.
Minutes: The April minutes were approved as presented with corrections.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Carol seconded by Ron to accept the Treasurer's Report as read.
Motion carried.

Bills: Motion by Ron seconded by Don to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.
Guests: Steve Hansen and Bernard Ware, Jr. revisited the Multi-Jurisdictional Planning discussion and once again requested the Village's commitment to support the new Unit. Motion by Carol seconded by Ron to make a Statement of Intent to join the Multi-Jurisdictional Planning Unit. Motion carried.
Sign: Motion by Carol seconded by Ron to order a "No Brush, Leaves Only" sign to be posted at the compost site by the water tower. Motion carried.
Correspondence: Received a letter from lawyer, Brad Putney regarding the dismissal of the lawsuit brought against the Village of Bear Lake.
Campground: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to allow a Seasonal camper to be placed on a drop-in site. Motion carried. Motion by Don seconded by Robert to have Frank Riegal install the new bouncer animals in the park for $1,484.00 which includes the two bouncers. Motion carried.
Equipment: Motion by Don seconded Robert to sell the old power washer to Curtis Edwards for $50. Motion carried.
Millage: Motion by Ron seconded by Ricke to accept 0.9560 as the Headlee millage reduction fraction, setting our village mills at 9.044 for General Fund Use and to extend the tax deadline with no penalty from September 14, 2005 to February 28, 2006. Motion carried.
Website: Motion by Ricke seconded by Ron to hire Lewis Gear, from Gear It Up Communications to take over as our website coordinator. Yes votes: Ricke Guerne, Robert Howe, Don Hyrns, Ron Ronning and Glen Moore. Abstain: Carol Urbanus. Motion carried.
Discussions Held On:
- Place ad in the Manistee News Advocate for Summer Help.
- Sodium Chloride was put down on the campground road to reduce dust.
- New water line was installed in the park.
- Hidden sign has not yet been installed. Ron will check into the expected installation date.
- Mr. Bacon expressed his concern with the sand and leaves along the roads.
Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
