Village of Bear Lake - Minutes for September 14, 2005 Please note that the Minutes are not posted to the web site until they have been approved. Village of Bear Lake The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:37 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall. Council Present: Vern Best, Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Don Hyrns, Glen Moore, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning and Carol Urbanus. Guests: Carver Edwards and Char Myers. Minutes: The August minutes were approved with corrections. Treasurer's Report: Motion by Carol seconded by Robert to accept the Bills: Motion by Robert seconded by Ricke to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried. Guests: Char Myers offered clarification about the Manistee County Community Foundations request for $273.00 to support EnVision Manistee County. Due to the laws governing donations, the Village has opted to table this request until further review. Workman's Comp Bill: Motion by Ron seconded by Don to allow Connie to pay the revised Workman's Comp billing when it is received from the Mathieu Agency. Motion carried. Water Summit: Motion by Don seconded by Ricke to pay the $15.00 fee to send Vern Best to the Regional Water Summit held at the Little River Casino in Manistee. Motion carried. Building Usage: Motion by Vern seconded by Ron to allow the village Hall to be used by Attorney Hyrns to conduct a deposition on September 30, 2005 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Motion carried. Trees: Motion by Don seconded by Robert to purchase replacement trees, mulch and compost with cost not to exceed $500.00. Motion carried. Ricke will check with the school to see if both 4th and 6th grade would be interested in planting the trees this fall. Grant: Motion by Carol seconded by Robert to have Dendra Best write a grant to the Manistee County Foundation for the amount of $600.00 to be used for educational purposes regarding the Wellhead Protection Plan. Motion carried. Contingency Plan: Motion by Carol seconded by Ron to allow Vern to distribute the Village's Contingency Plan to various government entities. Motion carried. Campground: Carol reported that the playground is now completed; the trees by the park entrance were trimmed; and the Memorial Tree in Bill Kuhn's name has been planted. Carol also announced her desire to retire as campground host. A replacement will be announced at a later date.
