Village of Bear Lake
February 8, 2006
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Vern Best, Connie Guerne, Ricke Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Glen Moore, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning and Carol Urbanus.
Absent: Don Hyrns.
Guests: Larry Bacon and Jim Reed.
Minutes: The January minutes were approved as presented with corrections.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Carol seconded by Robert to accept the Treasurer's Report as read. Motion carried.

Money Market Account: Connie read money market account balances located at Huntington Bank in the amounts of: Building Fund $55,000; Park Fund $30,000; and Water Fund $80,000.
Bills: Motion by Ron seconded by Robert to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.
Guests: Jim Reed reviewed the meeting he recently attended in Frankfort regarding information about grants and the possibility of applying for them in the future. A special meeting has been scheduled for February 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at Pleasanton Township Hall to discuss options for the Village, Bear Lake Township and Pleasanton Township. Jim along with Larry Bacon also discussed what the top 3 or 4 ideas the Village Council would like to explore in the future. Creating a Master Plan and updating the Recreational Plan were also discussed.
Correspondence: A letter was received from Dendra Best requesting 15 minutes at our regular meeting held in March to present and explain the Wastewater Community Education and Planning Resource Kit and how it can be used to educate the community. Motion by Ron seconded by Vern to allow Dendra to present the information. Motion carried.
A welcome letter will be sent to Doug Peters and Jodee Randall in regards to their new businesses on Lake Street (U.S. 31).
Budget: Council members received the initial 2006-2007 budget for review. The meeting to discuss the budget will be held on March 15th, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. before the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.
Discussions Held On:
- Joel Fink will be contacted to fix the lights on the hall and deck.
- Consumers will be contacted about a street light out by the corner of Smith and Stuart.
Meeting adjourned at 8:20p.m.
