April 18, 2007

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Council Present:  Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Don Hyrns, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson and Ron Ronning.

Absent: Connie Guerne and Rick Guerne.

Guests: None

Minutes: The March 2007 minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer's Report: No report given this month.

Bills: Motion by Carver seconded by Don to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.

Correspondence: Manistee County Library, B.L. Joint Planning Committee, Vern Best.

Motion by Ron seconded by Don to send a complaint letter to homeowner and renter regarding their barking dog. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to pay $30 for each person attending the Joint Planning Committee's Zoning Training Session on May 14th. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Don to resubmit the grant application for Hopkins Park Improvements at a 50/50 match of $19,995 for Village's share. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Robert to have Thompson's Tree Service remove the Ash on Maple Street and the Chestnut Tree on Euclid. Motion carried.

Motion by Larry seconded by Carver to have Galaxy Electric replace the lights in the Village Hall. Motion carried.

Discussions held on:
- Confirmation will be sent to Vern Best regarding his request.
- Council members will volunteer their time to refurbish the existing boards on the picnic tables that are in need of repair.
- Don will get updated bids for the pavilion roof repair.
- The council opted not to renew the ad for Hopkins Park in the Manistee Visitor's Guide.
- Workman's comp audit went well and without incident.
- Bids will be obtained for sidewalks in need of repair.
- The importance of communication among council members and the community was discussed. The President will contact the Treasurer to receive an update regarding the status of various items and issues.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
