Village of Bear Lake

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Council Present: Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Alice Howe, Don Hyrns, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning, George Schafer.

Absent: Jim Mlejnek

Guests: None.

Minutes: The November 2007 minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer's Report:

• Building Fund - $6,058.24
• Equipment Fund - $21,026.38
• General Fund - $35,129.15
• Minor Street Fund - $21,700.32
• Major Street Fund - $36,718.84
• Park Fund - $26,133.72
• Water Fund - $20,594.45
• Huntington Bank Fund - $77,842.62
• 6-month CD - 50,000.00
• 6-month CD - 30,000.00

Motion by Carver seconded by Don to accept the Treasurer¹s Report as read. Motion carried

Motion by Don seconded by Larry to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to decline the DNR's proposed grant agreement for dock/ramp reconstruction at this time. Motion carried. Research data and quotes will be gathered for further discussion by the Village council.

Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to allow George to contact the DNR about other avenues/resources for dock/ramp repair. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by George to update rules & regulations for Hopkins Park Campground and raise the rates as follows: Back Lots: daily $18, monthly, $395 and seasonal $1,400. Lake Lots: daily $20, monthly, $445 and seasonal $1,600. Motion carried.

Motion by Carver seconded by Ron to send a 30-day reminder notice followed by a certified shut-off notice to residents who are delinquent in their payments. Motion carried.

Motion by Carver seconded by Don to implement a new gift/donation policy for the Village. Motion carried.

Discussions Held On:

• A Lake Improvement Board update was given by Carver Edwards regarding the Milfoil in Bear Lake and the special assessment district that may be implemented.
• The lawn tractor was repaired for next year.
• Judy Kuhn will continue as hostess for the campground for the 2008 season.
