March 21, 2007

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Council Present: Carver Edwards, Connie Guerne, Howard Higley, Robert Howe, Gary McBride, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson and Ron Ronning.

Absent: Don Hyrns

Guests: Manistee County Road Commission representative, Jerry Peterson and Wade-Trim representative, Brian Sousa.

Minutes: The February 2007 minutes were approved as presented with one correction.

Treasurer's Report: Motion by Bill seconded by Ron to accept the Treasurer's Report as read. Motion carried.

Bills: Motion by Carver seconded by Ron to pay the bills as presented. Motion carried.

Guest: Jerry Peterson presented various ideas as to how to handle possible street repairs in the Village and the estimated cost of such repair.

Street Repairs: Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to have Mr. Peterson evaluate the village roads and offer a recommendation for repairs. Motion carried.

Guest: Brian Sousa presented a Professional Service Agreement in an effort to secure two different federal grants from the MDNR.

Waterways Grant: Motion by Carver seconded by Bill to sign an agreement with Wade-Trim to complete an application to secure a grant from the MDNR for Hopkins Memorial Park and the Boat Launch Upgrade. Cost for agreement is $1,600. Motion carried.

Water System Overview: Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to sign an agreement with Wade-Trim to complete an application to secure a grant for the Master Water Map & System Overview. Cost for agreement is $950.00. Motion carried.

Brush Pick-Up: Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to have Pioneer Press Printing produce brush pick-up cards and have Connie include them in the water bills. Motion carried.

Joint Planning Pay: Motion by Carver seconded by Larry to pay Joint Planning Committee members for four meetings (if attended) at $35 per meeting. Motion carried.


Discussions held on:
- Brush Pick-up dates for 2007 are: April 12 & 26; May 10; June 14; July 12; Aug. 9; Sept. 13; and Oct. 11.
- Schmidt land purchase agreement was submitted and we are waiting for final approval.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
