The Budget Hearing was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Present: Carver Edwards, Alice Howe, Don Hyrns, Jim Mlejnek, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson and Ron Ronning.

Absent: George Schafer

Funds: The budget was presented with brief discussion on the various accounts. Changes were made to include the audit amounts for $500 in the Park Fund and $600 in the Water Fund.

REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
February 20, 2008

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Council Present: Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Alice Howe, Don Hyrns, Jim Mlejnek, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson, Ron Ronning and George Schafer.

Guests: None

Budget: Motion by Carver seconded by Don to approve the proposed 2008-2009 budget with the addition of line item: Joint Planning Committee, $2,000 in the General Fund. Motion carried.

Minutes: The January minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report: Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to accept the Treasurer’s Report as read. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by Carver to pay bills as presented. Motion carried.

By Resolution a motion by Ron seconded by Don to sign the Grant-In-Aid agreement with the Michigan DNR and Wade-Trim for the upgrade to the dock area for $19,500. Motion carried.

Discussions Held On:

• A certified letter will be sent to a local resident in violation of the Winter Parking Ordinance.
• The council will look for a new pick-up truck for the Village.
• The next Autum Glory Day will take place on the second Saturday in October of 2008. There will also be a Farmers’ Market every Friday beginning Memorial Day from 4 to 8 p.m. at the former gas station on Lake St (U.S. 31).
• A reminder that the Lake Improvement Board will be holding a meeting on February 21 & 28 to discuss the special assessment district for the Milfoil project.
• The Council plans to repair 3 fire hydrants in the spring/summer.
• The Millage rate last year was set at 10.5501 and we expect it to be the same for 2008. The council will discuss and vote on the Millage rate at the regular March meeting.
