REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
March 19, 2008

The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:32 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.

Council Present: Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Alice Howe, Don Hyrns, Glen Moore, Ron Ronning and George Schafer.

Absent: Jim Mlejnek, Larry Mortenson and Michelle Mortenson

Guests: Donna Ronning

Minutes: The February minutes were approved as presented.

Treasurer’s Report: Motion by Ron seconded by George to accept the Treasurer’s Report as read. Motion carried. Building Fund 6,070.81

• Major Street Fund 40,525.40
• Park Fund 34,408.79
• Water Fund 25,822.94
• CD - Honor Bank $50,000.00

Motion by Don seconded by Carver to pay bills as presented. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to set the Millage Rate at 10.5501 which is the current rate. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to approve Thompson’s Tree and Stump Removal to pick-up brush for the 2008 season. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by Carver to put notices in the water bills reminding residents not to park or not to sprinkle a day or two before the roads are scheduled to be fixes. Should be in early June. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by Carver to have the Manistee Road Commission add oil to the blacktopping during road repair this summer. Motion carried.

Motion by Ron seconded by Don to purchase a Village truck from Yates Chevrolet for the total of 10,894.00. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by George to allow the park manager to purchase a new bulletin board for the campground. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by George to pay Donna Ronning $45 for meetings she attends regarding Hopkins Park updates. Motion carried.

Motion by Geroge seconded by Ron to endorse the assessment roll for the Special Assessment District. Motion carried.

Discussions Held On:

• Dates for the brush pick-up have been set as follows: April 10 (11) & 24 (25), May 15 (16), June 12 (13), July 10 (11), August 14 (15), September 11 (12), October 9 (10).
• The Village will check into having the water tower repainted.
• Howard will put cards regarding "no parking" on vehicles parked in the roadway a day or two before road repair.
