REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
May 19, 2010
The Regular Meeting of the Bear Lake Village Council was called to order by President Glen Moore at 7:30 p.m. at the Bear Lake Village Hall.
Council Present: Carver Edwards, Howard Higley, Alice Howe, Don Hyrns, Jim Mlejnek, Glen Moore, Larry Mortenson, Michelle Mortenson, Donna Ronning, Ron Ronning and George Schafer.
Absent: None
Guests: Rita Brisbin, Pauline Jaquish, Mary Manning and Bob Peterson
Minutes: The April minutes were approved as presented.
Treasurer's Report: Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to accept the Treasurer's Report as read. Motion carried.

Motion by Don seconded by Ron to transfer $10,000 from the major street fund to the general fund and transfer $10,000 from the major street fund to the water fund. Motion carried.
Motion by Larry seconded by Don to pay bills as presented. Motion carried.
Motion by Resolution by Carver seconded by Don to close the usual streets for Bear Lake Days and apply for a parade permit. Motion carried.
Motion by Ron seconded by Don to allow Wade-Trim to proceed with the next phase of the dock upgrade project. Motion carried.
Motion by Ron seconded by Carver to have Thompson Tree Service remove a limb of a tree by the United Methodist Church on Smith Street. Motion carried.
Motion by Ron seconded by Larry to have Fleis & Vandenbrink Engineering obtain three quotes to have both wells, inpsected and cleaned prior to installation of the new tank. Motion carried.
Motion by Carver seconded by Jim to approve the amended Professional Services Agreement with Fleis & Vandenbrink Engineering Co. Motion carried.
Discussions Held On: - Josh Groenwald was once again hired to work for the summer - A new enclosure for the bleach containers was discussed, will revisit the issue at our next meeting - A tree being planted by "The Bear". No action taken - The 2009 Consumer Confidence Report is available for review and posted at the Village Hall. - The tax bond proposal is currently being reviewed by Honor Bank. - Bob Peterson addressed the concern of the council regarding fireworks traveling thru Hopkins Park with Bob offering clarification of the send-off location. - Pauline Jaquish expressed interest in having flags flown most of the summer & fall however concern over the wrapping around poles in the wind put the action on hold. - Mary Manning gave an overview for Autumn Glory Day set for October 2nd. She encouraged groups to participate and requested the council think about a possible bonfire and cookout in the park. The council will seek input from their insurance carrier regarding liability. - Rita Brisbin (representing the Bear Lake Promoters & Triginta Club) offered the possibility of a donation to a Village Project. Tap water at "the Bear", replacing posts under the pavilion, and the entrance to Hopkins Park were discussed. No action taken at this time. - Mary Manning addressed the Clock Tower fundraising. Ladies of the Lake will be selling engraved bricks for the base of the clock for $70.00 each. J.J. Witty's will have information available if anyone is interested.
