Roadway Stabilization Project on US-31 in Bear Lake
starts March 19

ESTIMATED STARTING DATE:  Monday, March 19, 2018
ESTIMATED COMPLETION DATE:  Friday, May 25, 2018
 
PROJECT:
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will invest $883,000 to construct a retaining wall and stabilize the Bear Lake shoreline on US-31 near Highland Drive. This work will help stabilize the roadway, and includes repair of settled pavement and guardrail replacement.

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS: 
During construction, one lane of alternating traffic will be controlled with a temporary traffic signal.
 
SAFETY FEATURES: 
This work will ensure the stability of the roadway and update the guardrail at this location.

​Bear Lake Improvement Board Representative needed...
The Bear Lake Improvement Board is seeking a Riparian Representative for it's Board.  The sole Mission Statement of the Board "To preserve and protect the waters of Bear Lake from invasive species".   The term for that representative is a four year obligation and by law (Michigan Act 451) MUST be a deeded riparian property owner on Bear Lake.  The selection from the candidates to take place May 2018 by the remaining Bear Lake Improvement Board Members.
